Travel Plans
Travel planning is now an integral part of the Traffic Assessment
process.
Assessments
- At the discretion of the Local Authority a full Travel Plan may have to be written to assess how a
proposed development can make access to its site more sustainable.
- In the event of a full Travel Plan being deemed unnecessary there will still be a requirement for a
site audit to assess the availability of local facilities and alternative modes of transport.
Sustainable Transport
- We have a commitment to sustainable transport and are aware that it is not always easy to shift
away from the undoubted convenience of private car use. There are real issues of personal security
and privacy involved yet something has to move.
- We believe that creating a culture of alternatives is as important as the measures themselves and
to this end support the development of Green Travel Plans.
- Strategies for improving public health recognise the importance of cycling and walking, segregation from
vehicular traffic often being key.
- This represents a strategy integral to the overall Traffic Assessment
and Road Safety culture.
